Duracell has partnered with Bee’ah, the UAE’s leading integrated environmental and waste management company, to drive sustainability across the emirates in line with Vision 2021. As part of The Great Battery Challenge, both organisations will raise awareness of how people can recycle their batteries, in an effort to protect the environment.
Studies have shown that the vast majority of batteries purchased in the UAE each year end up in landfill, where contents can be hazardous to the environment. The Great Battery Challenge aims to inspire future generations, including school children and employees, to become advocates for environmental change by responsibly disposing of their used batteries.
More than 100 schools across Dubai and Sharjah and over 15,000 member companies in DMCC will participate in The Great Battery Challenge, making it easy and convenient for people to recycle batteries in designated collection battery bins distributed across the free zone’s residential and commercial towers.
Duracell is the world’s leading manufacturer of high-performance batteries and one of the biggest investors in battery collection and recycling programs. We are committed to fostering environmental sustainability, which begins with choosing the right technology. For example, one of our superior alkaline batteries can be up to 10 times more efficient than zinc carbon batteries in high drain devices.
Bee’ah, the Middle East’s fastest growing environmental management company, was founded in 2007, with the objective of creating a sustainable future, through creative and resourceful solutions. By implementing revolutionary environmental management practices, systematic waste management, sustainability strategies for key resources and utilization of renewable energy sources, as well as community engagement initiatives, Bee’ah seeks to set a benchmark for sustainability, for cities and communities everywhere.
Headquartered in Dubai, DMCC is the world’s most interconnected free zone, and the leading trade and enterprise hub for commodities. Whether developing vibrant neighbourhoods with world-class property or delivering high performance business services, DMCC provides everything its dynamic community needs to live, work and thrive.
